I LOVE poultry seasoning … there … I’ve said it. By LOVE I mean in things like chicken soup and bone broth .. if you were picturing me scarfing the powder straight please don’t! When I found out that I couldn’t use the regular seasoning because it usually contains black pepper and nutmeg, I decided to make my own.
Saving money with homemade poultry seasoning
This poultry seasoning is quick and easy to make, lasts a long time and, best of all, maybe?? saves money. Actually I’m not sure about this last point but … I can’t have the regular stuff anyway. If you are fortunate enough to have a bulk food store in your community you can buy all the components for this seasoning and cut down on the cost.

I went looking for a homemade poultry seasoning recipe and found one at CookinginStilettos. The credit for this recipe is not mine since all I did was remove the black pepper and nutmeg and then use a spice grinder to turn all the dried herbs into a nice powdered AIP compliant poultry seasoning.
Make up a batch and keep it on hand in your pantry … this is a great staple to have amongst your spices.
Food to Heal Ourselves
Yields 1/2 cup
Homemade poultry seasoning minus the black pepper and nutmeg. Now we have an AIP spice blend.

3 tablespoons thyme (dried leaf)
2 tablespoons sage (dried leaf)
2 tablespoons marjoram (dried leaf)
1 tablespoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon savory (dried leaf)
Put all ingredients for the poultry seasoning in a spice grinder or coffee grinder dedicated for this purpose and grind until it is a powder.
will keep in your pantry for at least 6 months
